OCTA: Capiz logged 0% COVID-19 positivity rate on year end
The province of Capiz recorded a 0% positivity rate by the end of 2022, while other areas in Mimaropa, and Visayas and Mindanao regions also went down to low level, data by independent monitoring group OCTA Research showed.
Based on information by OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David, Capiz’ positivity rate — or the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested — dropped from 9.1% on December 24 to 0.0% on December 31.
Likewise, positivity rates also decreased in Bohol, Cebu, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Leyte, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, and Zamboanga del Sur.
Oriental Mindoro’s positivity rate made a big jump from 36.6% on December 24 to 14.5% on December 31.
However, Aklan, Iloilo, and South Cotabato all recorded an uptick over the same period.
“Aklan had a slight increase in [positivity rate] but many provinces had low positivity rates including Capiz, Cebu, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, Leyte, South Cotabato,” David said in a tweet.
Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said Sunday there is a possibility that COVID-19 infections would again increase due to the gatherings over the holidays, but stressed that hospitals are ready should this happen.
