Over 300 students in Quezon to benefit from GMA Kapuso Foundation's feeding program for 6 months

A total of 331 students from General Nakar in Quezon are part of GMA Kapuso Foundation's feeding program which will run for six months.

According to a "24 Oras" report, Wednesday, among the beneficiaries are six-year-old twins Kurl and Kyle Pranada who, at times, only eats rice and soy sauce.

They would often eat vegetables harvested by their mom but bad weather resulted in damaged crops.

Kurl and Kyle only weigh 12.4 kilos, but 13 kilos is the ideal weight of a two-year-old, according to the World Health Organization's Weight for Age table. Six-year-olds should weigh 20.5 kilos.

The twins' malnutrition has been showing not just at home, but also at school.

"Itong kambal, talagang sila'y masiyahin naman pero 'pag kulang sa nutrisyon, makikita mo na 'yung performance ng bata, parang tamad magsulat," said teacher Jovy Yomang of Pesa Elementary School.

According to 2021 data of the National Nutrition Council, Quezon placed ninth among places with lots of malnutrition cases in the Philippines.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
