Hospital watcher takes senior citizen hostage in Pagadian

A man took a senior citizen hostage for over three hours at a hospital in Pagadian City.

According to the report on Saksi of GMA Regional TV One Mindanao's Cyril Chavez, a video showed the man holding at knife-point the senior citizen at the Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center.

Both the suspect and the victim were watchers at the hospital.

The suspect let go of the victim after his cousin arrived. It was then that the police grabbed him and took away the knife.

The hostage was safe.

The suspect was reportedly the designated watcher of an uncle in the hospital.

During the negotiation, the suspect asked for his cousin so he could be relieved of his watching duties.

Investigation showed that the suspect could be suffering from depression.
