Grade 10 student caught with grenade, marijuana in Negros Occidental

A Grade 10 student was caught carrying a grenade inside the school in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

According to the report on "Saksi" of GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas' Aileen Pedreso, the authorities seized the grenade from Bronson Lucas Lacson, 20, at the Rafael Lacson Memorial High School in Talisay City.

Apart from the grenade, Lacson also yielded marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

“Kinapkapan natin siya and we are able to find the grenade in his possession sa bulsa niya. Other than explosives, nakakita rin tayo ng marijuana at tooter,” said Lieutenant Abigail Donasco of the Talisay City Police Station.

Lacson allegedly also threatened to hit a pedicab driver with the grenade before going to school.

Meanwhile, the police are still investigating where Lacson got the grenade and the illegal drug.

Moreover, the Rafael Lacson Memorial High School vowed to intensify vigilance for the safety of the students.

Department of Education (DepEd) spokesperson Michael Poa said the agency is already coordinating with the School Division and Regional Office.

"Based on (the) information given to us, the learners have been immediately shifted to distance learning modalities — until tomorrow (Wednesday)," Poa said.

"In-person classes will resume on Tuesday, 11 April 2023. Psychological First Aid will be given upon resumption of classes," he added, noting that he also requested a statement from the Regional Office for the details regarding the incident. —Sherylin Untalan, GMA Integrated News
