Amang floods parts of Quezon, Bicol before weakening into LPA
Tropical Depression Amang caused massive flooding in parts of Quezon and the Bicol region before it weakened to a low-pressure area.
According to Ivan Mayrina's report on "24 Oras", there were reports of chest-high floods in Lopez, Quezon which caused residents to flee.
Some roads, including the national highway, were not passable amid rains, leaving some vehicles stranded.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Quezon, several rivers in the town overflowed due to heavy rain.
Earlier today, over 90 families were evacuated from the town. Most were outside evacuation areas or staying at a relative's or neighbor's house.
In Mulanay, Quezon, no one is allowed to sail. Rivers are also closed in bamboo groves and areas in Atimonan as it continues to be monitored.
In Bombon, Camarines Sur, some motorists were forced to pull over because of the flood on Wednesday.
As Amang weakened to an LPA on Thursday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) allowed vessels to travel in and out of Catanduanes.
The ships have also resumed their sea trips to Bicol despite strong waves, and the operation of ships and other marine vessels in Sorsogon is back to normal.
Moreover, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said it is also distributing aid in the Bicol region, where more than one hundred thousand pesos worth of family food packs have already been distributed.
