Magnitude 5.1 earthquake strikes Isabela
A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit the municipality of Maconacon, Isabela on Sunday evening, with the intensity felt in nearby provinces, Phivolcs reported.
The monitoring agency said the quake was tectonic in origin, striking a depth of 31 kilometers at 7:36 p.m. on Sunday. Its epicenter was located 17.62°N, 122.36°E - 029 km N 27° E of Maconacon.
Intensity 5 was reported in Enrile, Cagayan; and Intensity 4 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. An instrumental intensity 3 was recorded in Gonzaga, Cagayan; Intensity 2 in Ilagan, Isabela; Tabuk, Kalinga; and Madella Quirino.
Intensity 1 was seen in Casiguran and Baler, Aurora; Laoag City, Pasuquin, and Batac, Ilocos Norte; and Santiago City in Isabela.
Phivolcs said no damage is expected, but aftershocks are likely. There were two reported so far, a magnitude 2.2 at 7:41 p.m., and a magnitude 2.9 at 7:43 p.m. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
