All 38 passengers of a boat that ran aground in the vicinity waters off Dapa town, Siargao Island in Surigao Del Norte on Saturday made it to port safely, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

In a post on its Facebook account, the PCG said that the M/V Reina Xaviera's captain reported an engine malfunction as the ship approached Dapa's port. "Due to the strong winds, it drifted and eventually ran aground," it said.

The passengers were brought to the port in good physical condition, it added.

The PCG did not report any casualties from the incident, and said that it continues to monitor the vessel. — BM, GMA Integrated News
