Davao Oriental fishing boat mishap death toll rises to three
The death toll in the Davao Oriental boat mishap rose to three after one cadaver was recovered by the search and rescue team on Friday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Saturday.
The cadaver was recovered at around 8:30 a.m., the PCG said.
This brought the number of crew members still missing to six.
Among those earlier reported missing is the boat captain, PCG Davao Oriental said.
Meanwhile, 14 crew members have so far been rescued out of the 23 total crew members.
The vessel, identified as FB Genesis 2, sank at around 1 a.m. on Thursday in the vicinity waters of Baganga, Davao Oriental, the PCG Station Davao Oriental said. It was not half-submerged as earlier reported.
Rescued crew said they encountered a sudden change in sea condition at around 12 midnight.
The concerned fishing company also deployed its fleet to augment the search and rescue operations, the PCG earlier said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
