15 hurt as explosion hits Korean restaurant in Oriental Mindoro

Fifteen people were hurt following an explosion in a Korean restaurant at a mall in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on Thursday morning, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) Mimaropa.

In a statement, PRO Mimaropa chief Police Brigadier General Joel Doria said the injured persons include four of the restaurant's staff members and its delivery boy, and 10 other unidentified individuals.

Twelve vehicles also sustained different degrees of damage due to the explosion.

An Incident Command Post has been activated to respond to the incident, according to Doria.

PRO Mimaropa said efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of the public as the police are working closely with the Bureau of Fire Protection in the investigation.

“We understand the concerns and anxieties of the community, and we want to emphasize that the situation is being given the highest priority,” Doria said.

“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperative with the authorities.”

Doria encouraged the public to report to authorities if they have any information related to the incident that may help the investigation. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
