ITCZ rains leave 1 dead, 78 displaced in Northern Mindanao —OCD

One person was reported dead in Northern Mindanao due to the effects of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said on Friday.

At a televised public briefing, OCD deputy spokesperson Diego Mariano said the ITCZ caused rains and floods in the region including Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte.

“So meron po tayong isa po dyang na-report na nasawi (So we have one reported fatality in the area),” Mariano said.

According to him, around 11,000 families were affected by the inclement weather in the region. Of the affected population, 78 people or 17 families were staying in evacuation centers.

Assistance worth P2 million has been provided to the victims, Mariano said. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
