Over 3K passengers stranded in Bicol ports due to Egay
Over 3,000 port passengers have been stranded at various seaports in Bicol due to Typhoon Egay, the Office of Civil Defense said.
Earlier today, state weather bureau PAGASA raised Signal No. 2 in several areas, including Catanduanes at Albay, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
According to the "24 Oras" report by Jessica Calinog of GMA Regional TV Balitang Bicolandia, operations of the Roll-On Roll-Off (RORO) passenger vessel from the Pasacao port to Masbate have beensuspended. Some 162 passengers were stranded.
"Alam naman po namin na may low pressure area. Kailangan talaga namin 'yung trabaho na gagawin namin sa catanduanes. Kaya nakipagsapalaran na rin po kami. Maghihintay po kami," said a passenger at Tabaco Port, Leanna Capito.
In Caramoan, Camarines Sur, the Philippine Coast Guard has issued a 'no sailing policy,' but some travelers still insisted on traveling.
"Okay lang po kasi sabi nila, hindi naman ganun kalakas 'yung alon," a passenger, Jimmy Bracero said.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said they have deployed uniformed personnel and other agencies. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
