Owner to press charges vs. guests in Laguna resort trashing

The local government of Calamba City, Laguna has ordered an investigation into a group of guests’ alleged trashing of a private resort, Andrew Bernardo of GMA Regional TV Balitang Southern Tagalog reported Wednesday on “24 Oras."

A viral video showed a group of men throwing chairs, bottles, and even a charcoal grill and a water dispenser into the pool. The resort’s caretaker said they were part of a large group who rented the place on Sunday evening.

“Maayos silang iniwan, pinagsilbihan sila kung ano ang kailangan nila. Ibinigay sa kanila pati ang ayos ng resort ibinigay nang malinis tapos biglang ganun,” Apple Torres, the caretaker, said.

(We properly coordinated and gave their needs. We left the resort clean.)

Torres also said the guests did not check out properly.

“Nu’ng kinukuha na ng kasama namin ang susi para buksan ‘yung [gate], ‘yung kumukuha ng security deposit bigla na lang humarurot ng alis. Nakamotor kasi sila,” she added.

(When one of the caretakers asked for the key, the one asking for the security deposit suddenly left. They were onboard motorcycles.)

Some of the guests have reached out but the resort owner said he is keen on pressing charges.

”We have to press this people. Gagawa kami ng aksyon within 24 hours kasi ang nakakaawa ‘yung mga kasama nilang nag-shoulder ng expenses on that incident,” Modesto Fajardo, the resort owner, said.

(We have to press these people. We will take action within 24 hours. Some of them reached out and paid for the expenses.)

The Calamba city government instructed the police to conduct a probe into the incident. Among the possible charges is malicious mischief.

”Pwede kaming tumulong na mag-file ng complaint, in case lang na magpa-file nga ng complaint ang owner,” said Lawyer Samuel Yu, Calamba City legal officer.
