Radio anchor killed in Cotabato City

A radio anchor was killed in Cotabato City on Monday, the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the PTFoMS said that the police identified the victim as Mohammad Hessam Midtimbang, 32, host of the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta radio program on Gabay Radio 97.7 FM.

PTFoMS executive director Paul Gutierrez said the task force had coordinated with the Philippine National Police for the progress of the ongoing investigation.

He said is also checking with the 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army for the gathering of additional information on the case.

“We condemn this senseless act of violence as it has no place in our society,” Gutierrez said.

“Pending the result of the investigation as to the motive of the attack, we consider this as related to the work of the victim as a radio anchor,” he added. —NB, GMA Integrated News
