DOLE provides work for nearly 16,000 in Egay-hit Cagayan Valley
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said it has provided emergency employment to 15,997 residents in five provinces in the Cagayan Valley after Typhoon Egay.
In a statement, DOLE said P82,445,832 from the TUPAD funds were used to provide employment to 1,344 beneficiaries from Batanes; 13,339 from Cagayan; 1,208 from Isabela; 102 from Nueva Vizcaya; and four from Quirino.
The beneficiary workers will be given emergency employment for 10 to 30 days, including clearing debris, de-clogging canals, debris segregation, materials recovery, tree planting, gardening and other rehabilitation activities in their specific communities.
Qualified beneficiaries will receive P420 a day.
A profiling and needs assessment activity has already been conducted to determine which individuals qualify for the calamity program. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
