2 teens swept away by waves while swimming on Davao City beach

Two teenagers swimming at a beach resort in Davao City were swept away by waves on Sunday afternoon, with one of them being declared dead on arrival at the hospital while the other has yet to be found.

According to Davao Police Chief Major Romeo Mapanao Jr., the two victims were swimming by the beach when they were swept away by the big waves past 3 p.m. on Sunday, as reported on Super Radyo dzBB.

The 13-year-old was brought to a nearby hospital where he was declared deceased while authorities continued searching for the other victim - a 19-year-old.

Mapanao said the police will investigate why the victims were allowed to swim at the beach despite the huge waves in the area caused by the Southwest Monsoon. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
