3 killed, 6 hurt in Laguna multiple-vehicle collision —PNP


Three people were killed and six others were injured after three vehicles figured in a collision in Calamba City, Laguna early Wednesday morning, police said.

Based on a police report from Police Regional Office 4A (PRO 4A), the fatalities were identified as tricycle driver Gilbert Palupit, and his passengers Aileen Palupit and Maria Aleisha Gale Palupit.

Injured individuals were motorcycle driver John Rey San Juan and his passenger Myla San Juan Alorro; the other passengers of the tricycle namely Akisha Gillen Palupit, Allyssa Joy Palupit, and Ayesha Gillian Palupit; and pickup truck passenger Clay John Nieto Tianzon.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Alyssa Mae Pacrin Abitria, was detained, according to the police report.

PRO 4A said that around 3 a.m. the motorcycle and tricycle were traversing a road from Barangay Halang going to Barangay Pansol while the pickup truck was coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcycle and tricycle were on their right of way when the pickup truck allegedly occupied their lane causing the collision, police said.

The drivers and passengers of motorcycle and tricycle fell on the pavement and sustained serious injuries.

They were immediately brought to JP Rizal Hospital, but tricycle driver Gilbert was immediately pronounced dead, according to the police.

The other fatalities, passengers Aileen and Aleisha, were declared dead at 5:13 a.m. and 5:37 a.m., respectively. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
