Fire hits Davao residential district, more than 200 houses affected
A massive fire that broke out in a residential district in Davao City on Tuesday affected more than 200 houses and resulted in over P1.6 million in damages.
According to a DZBB report by John Calonia, around 235 houses at Purok 5 and 6 in the Agdao District were destroyed or severely damaged by the fire that started at around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The blaze reached the third alarm before it was declared under control at past 9 a.m.
Initial investigation by the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) pointed to faulty electrical wiring in the ceiling of one of the houses as a possible cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, the Davao local government and Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde have begun providing aid to the fire victims while the city’s Social Welfare and Development office is conducting an assessment to determine the total number of affected residents.— Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
