3 dead in fire in Molo, Iloilo City

Three people died in a fire that hit a residential area in Molo District, Iloilo City before dawn on Saturday, police said.

This was according to initial police investigation, the Molo Police Station said, Sevein Hope Gegantoca of Super Radyo Iloilo reported on Dobol B TV.

The fire which started at 4:42 a.m. affected 50 houses in Zone 3, Barangay Habog-Habog Salvacion, according to the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

The houses were made of light materials, thus the fire quickly spread.

Residents did what they can to help the Bureau of Fire Protection put out the fire.

The fire reached the fourth alarm at 5:02 a.m.

The BFP said the fire was placed under control at 5:53 a.m., then fire out was declared at 6:59 a.m., according to the Iloilo City Operations Center.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. —KG, GMA Integrated News
