PCG's BRP Panglao rescues distressed yacht in Davao Oriental
A yacht which had engine failure while at sea in Davao Oriental was rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard patrol boat BRP Panglao.
This was announced by PCG District Southeastern Mindanao (CDGSEM) on its Facebook page on Saturday.
The said yacht named Pleasure Yacht Apkallu came from Indonesia when it reported engine failure while it was approximately 8.8 nautical miles west southwest of Surup in the municipality of Governor Generoso.
"CGDSEM swiftly responded to the distress call, deploying a rescue vessel equipped for towing and search and rescue operations," the agency said.
BRP Panglao reached the distressed Pleasure Yacht Apkallu despite challenging sea conditions and successfully towed the yacht, ensuring the safety of both the vessel and its two passengers, it added.
The two passengers are American citizens, the CDGSEM added. —KG, GMA Integrated News
