PCG rescues 10 after motor banca loses power in Capiz waters

The Philippine Coast Guard reported Wednesday it rescued 10 people from a passenger vessel that encountered mechanical trouble in waters off Roxas City in Capiz over the weekend.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the PCG Special Operations Unit Capiz responded to a request for rescue from the captain of motor banca MBCA Ayos after the vessel encountered mechanical trouble and was dead on the water.

The motor banca dropped anchor and was found approximately ten nautical miles northwest of Zapato Dako/Mayor Island.

The PCG rescued 7 passengers, which included 2 children plus 3 crew members from the powerless boat.

The passengers were ferried to their residences at Barangay Ubo, Balud, Masbate, while the boat was towed to the Coast Guard Sub-Station in Calumpang, Masbate for temporary safekeeping on Monday.—RF, GMA Integrated News
