Whale shark 'submerges' boat in Romblon; 2 fishermen rescued by PCG


Two fishermen were rescued in Romblon after their boat was allegedly hit by a whale shark

Two fishermen were rescued in Romblon after their boat was allegedly hit by a whale shark, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In an incident report released on Friday, the PCG said that the boat submerged in the vicinity waters off Barangay Cantagda in Cajidiocan, Romblon around midnight.

"Coast Guard Sub Station Cajidiocan personnel conducted an initial inquiry with the survivors and revealed that they believed that they were hit by a whale shark while underway which caused the said incident," said the PCG.

The fishermen were identified as Edgardo Lozano, 60 years-old, and Harry Lozano, 51.

According to the PCG, the fishermen were in good condition when they were rescued. The PCG assisted their safe return to their homes.

“The two individuals were transferred to the SAR (search and rescue) team's boat and headed to the shoreline of Brgy. Danao, Cajidiocan,” it added. —Joviland  Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
