Mandaue City fire leaves 30 families homeless

Around 30 families lost their homes after a fire broke out in a residential area in Mandaue City, Cebu on Saturday night.

According to a 24 Oras Weekend report by Fe Marie Dumaboc of GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, the fire started at around 8 p.m. in a neighborhood in Barangay Tingub.

Bureau of Fire Protection - Mandaue raised the fire to second alarm and it took firefighters at least an hour to put out the blaze that quickly spread due to the light construction of the closely packed houses.

Although there were no reported injuries, the BFP said over P600,000 worth of property was destroyed or damaged in the incident.

Arson investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire which started from one of the houses.—Sherylin Untalan, RF/GMA Integrated News
