8 goats in Barili, Cebu deemed attacked by ravenous dogs

Eight dead goats were found to have sustained bite wounds on their neck and on different parts of their bodies, while others had abdomens ripped open, in Barili town, south Cebu province.

Dolorosa Panugan, the owner, found her goats dead on February 6, 2024 at around 3 p.m. in Purok Pabo, Sitio Allen, Barangay Mantalongon, Barili.

She said she owned nine goats. She took them that morning to an area to graze. Only the goat without a leash was able to scamper away from the attack.

Dolorosa’s son-in-law identified as Jerome Caballes said they suspect that famished stray dogs attacked the goats.

Meters away from the area where the dead goats were found, witnesses reportedly saw dogs. However, they were just shooed away by people in the area.

Dolorosa called on public assistance to be able to recover from the loss. She said that the eight goats are estimated to cost between P15,000 and P20,000. —GMA Regional TV
