74-year-old woman hacked to death by son in Talisay

A 74-year-old woman was hacked to death by her 38-year-old son in Talisay, Batangas.

According to Denise Abante's report on GMA Regional TV "Balitang Southern Tagalog," the 34-year-old suspect also went after his cousin and two children.

Investigation showed that the victim was sleeping on the couch when the suspect attacked her on Tuesday night at their home in Barangay Aya.

The suspect then went to the nearby house of his cousin and then hacked the other victims.

Neighbors responded to the victims' calls for help and the suspect was forced to flee.

He was arrested on Wednesday morning.

Talisay police said it was still unclear why the suspected attacked his mother.

There was no report that he was using illegal drugs.

Family members have yet to comment on the incident. —NB, GMA Integrated News
