No more noon break for DTI Central Mindanao
KORONADAL CITY, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry in Central Mindanao has adopted the corporate banking standards in its operation by going away with the lunch break. Ibrahim K. Guiamadel, the departmentâs regional director, said that field offices in the region are no longer closing for lunch as has been the practice in the government. "This is part of the regional officeâs continuing improvement process to achieve quality management system. We are adopting the business regulation corporate standard policy," he said. The regional Trade department, which is based in this city, is a self-assessed agency now aligned to ISO 9001:2000 standards, he added. Mr. Guiamadel said the move was "to promote good governance and also as part of the officeâs commitment to achieve total client satisfaction." "That is why in order to ensure client satisfaction and reduced processing turn-around time, as well as maintain our image as an agency of choice, business name registration and licensing services in all frontline offices of DTI-12 are available to clients from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon without noon break," he explained. "We have clients that are coming from far towns in the provinces. As soon as they enter the office to apply for business name registration, he or she should be attended to immediately even during noon breaks," said Dorecita T. Delima, assistant regional Trade director. - Romer S. Sarmiento, BusinessWorld
