12 quakes, 8 tremors logged at Taal Volcano in 24 hours

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported 12 volcanic earthquakes, including eight volcanic tremors, at the Taal Volcano. 

These seismic activities were monitored within 24 hours, and each lasted for two to four minutes 

Over 3,500 tons of sulfur dioxide, reaching a height of 900 meters were emitted by the volcano. 

The emissions were observed in the southwest and west-northwest directions. 

Last week, phreatic eruptions were also recorded in the volcano. 

Authorities said that there is no cause for alarm as the volcanic activity remains within normal levels. However, the public is advised to remain vigilant. —GMA Regional TV
