NIA completes 7 irrigation projects in Negros Oriental


A total of seven irrigation projects have been completed by the National Irrigation Administration in Negros Oriental.

The turnover was accomplsihed by NIA Region VII to farmer-beneficiaries in the Municipality of Siaton.

The completed projects are the Lower Mantuyop Small Irrigation Projects and rehabilitation projects for the Inalad Communal Irrigation System (CIS), Datag CIS, Caticugan CIS, Sandulot CIS, Lower Balanan CIS, and Cang-Iyao CIS.

The seven Irrigation Association (IA) presidents, representing farmer-beneficiaries, thanked the NIA for improving their livelihoods by increasing crop yields and irrigated areas.

They also expect these repair irrigation projects to protect their canals from future floods and typhoons.

The Siaton local government also expressed its appreciation for the support provided by the national agency and pledged to contribute their part in maintaining and safeguarding the completed irrigation projects.—Sherylin Untalan/RF, GMA Integrated News
