Samar’s most wanted man surrenders to cops

Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos on Monday announced that Samar's most wanted man surrendered to authorities.

Abalos said 36-year-old Jimmy Managaysay Elbano, who has a P165,000 bounty on his head, surrendered to the Calbayog City Police on Sunday morning.

Elbano had arrest warrants for six counts of murder, four counts of frustrated murder, two counts of robbery with homicide, and direct assault with multiple attempted murder.

“I would like to commend the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, and the LGUs for the surrender of the most wanted person here in Region 8. Malaking bagay po ito para sa katahimikan dito sa rehiyon,” Abalos said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police Region 8 police chief Police Brigadier General Reynaldo Pawid said intensified operations as well as persuasion from family prompted Elbano to surrender. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
