2-year-old dies after father's tricycle collides with truck
A two-year-old died while five others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and tricycle in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
Police said an investigation showed the tricycle driver — the victim’s father — overtook but failed to notice the truck, causing the collision.
The young victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His father also sustained injuries.
“Paparating 'yung isang truck galing Calasiao. Hindi nakontrol ang manibela ng tricycle, sumalpok. Nagkasalpukan sila. Head-on collision. Lumusot siya sa e-bike,” said Calasiao Police OIC Police Lieutenant Colonel Ferdinand Lopez in the report of CJ Torida of GMA Regional TV "One North Central Luzon” on “Saksi” Tuesday.
(The truck was from Calasiao. The tricycle driver lost control of the vehicle so it crashed against the truck.)
Kagawad Marcial Perreras of Barangay Bued detailed the impact of the collision.
“Napakalakas po kasi ‘yung mga sakay ng mga tricycle lahat dinaan sa hospital kaya namatay. Nayupi ‘yung sasakyan ng tricycle. 'Di ko alam sino may kasalanan,” said Perreras.
(The impact was so strong that the passengers of the tricycle had to be brought to the hospital where they died. Parts of the tricycle were folded. I don’t know whose fault it was.)
GMA Integrated News asked for comment from the bereaved family but they declined to issue a statement. They said they would coordinate with the kin of the truck driver. —Sundy Locus/NB/KG, GMA Integrated News
