Heavy rains cause floods, landslides in parts of Mindanao

As the heat rages in some parts of the country, several areas in the Mindanao region have experienced heavy rains triggering landslides and floods, according to a report on "24 Oras."

State meteorologists said the rainfall is due to thunderstorms, not because of the low pressure area spotted near the country.

In Davao City, both motorists and commuters had trouble traveling as the flood rose on some roads.

Some residents of Kabacan, Cotabato kept awake for the entire night due to the strong rainfall and wind. Despite a fair weather condition in the morning, the flood from the previous day's rains has yet to subside.

Some houses and rice fields in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur were also submerged due to the downpour. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
