Human bones found in bushes in Argao, Cebu
Human bones believed to be that of a woman were found in a patch of thickets in Barangay Casay, Argao town, south Cebu Province in the morning of May 27, 2024.
According to Barangay Casay Chairman Marlon Sombilon, the human bones were found by a resident gathering grasses to feed his goats.
The resident reportedly smelled stench in an area where an identification card and a gun holster were hanging from a tree branch. He found a skull, thigh bone (femur), and bones from other parts of the human body in the vicinity of the hanging items.
The man reported the incident immediately to the barangay officials who cordoned off the area and sought the assistance of Argao Police.
As of posting time, Argao Police were waiting for the family of the woman to identify her positively. A suspect of the crime is also tracked down.
The barangay chairman said that the remains could have been devoured by wild animals.
“Naay ulo, naa puy bukog usa, nya sa ubos-ubos naa sad usa nga nakit-an nga daku-daku nga bukog, kay possible gud ni daghang mga mananap diha, nga gipanghilabtan na ba, gipangkaon na kay bag-o pa gani tong bukog, mailhan gyud nimu nga gi-[kunis-kunis] na ang mga panit, gikaon-kaon na siya, kay kanang dapita diha gyud daghan na siyang mga halo [monitor lizard] diha,” Barangay Chairman Sombilon said. —GMA Regional TV
