Mt. Apo temporarily closed from June 1 to August 31
Mt. Apo in Davao del Sur will be temporarily off-limits to the public from June 1 to August 31, according to local authorities.
In an advisory issued on Saturday, the province’s Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office said that the closure is due to its "annual rehabilitation."
“Let's give our beloved peak the time it needs to flourish. Thank you for your understanding and commitment to conservation,” said Davao del Sur's Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office on Facebook.

Trekking and camping activities in the natural park were previously suspended until April 30 due to the risk of wildfires from the El Niño phenomenon.
Also known locally as Apo Sandawa, Mount Apo is a dormant volcano and is considered to be the highest peak in Mindanao. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
