Fake physician arrested for alleged illegal practice in Cebu —NBI
The National Bureau of Investigation-Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI-CEVRO) has arrested an individual for alleged illegal practice of medicine in Cebu City, the agency announced Monday.
According to the NBI, CEVRO agents arrested the individual in an entrapment operation in Lahug, Cebu City for alleged illegal practice of medicine under the Medical Act of 1959, and alleged swindling and estafa under the Revised Penal Code.
This was after the NBI received a complaint that the subject individual allegedly conducted a procedure and injected something on the complainant’s face on July 15, leading to swelling and infection.
The complainant said she discovered the individual on Facebook, who introduced herself as a licensed physician.
However, the NBI said that verification showed that the subject is a fake physician.
After the infection, the complainant said she repeatedly reached out to the subject but was blocked.
On July 17, the woman allegedly told the complainant that she would correct the procedure for an additional fee.
