Tuguegarao prosecutor indicts 2 over online prostitution —NBI
The Tuguegarao City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended the filing of charges against two individuals for the online prostitution of five victims, three of which are minors, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Tuesday.
In a statement, the NBI said the prosecutors recommended the filing of information for violation of Section 4(a) of Republic Act (RA) 9208 in relation to Section 6(a) and 10(e) thereof, as amended by RA 10364, and further amended by RA 11862 for the acts against the minors.
The prosecutors also recommended the filing against them for violation of Section 4(a) of RA 9208 in relation to Sections 6(a) and 10(a) thereof for the acts against the adult victims.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said that this stemmed from the operation of the NBI Lal-Lo District Office (LALDO) on the online sexual activity offered by victims through social media.
Information gathered by LALDO showed that the arrested individuals would offer P3,500 as a service fee for each of the “talents.”
On July 9, LALDO and the NBI Cagayan Valley Regional Office arrested the two individuals in a lodge in Tuguegarao City and rescued the five victims.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 02 and Regional Anti-Trafficking Task Force.
The minors have been turned over to the custody of DSWD Region 2. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
