P6.8M alleged shabu recovered in Lian, Batangas
A joint task force composed of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine National Police led to the retrieval of P6.8 million worth of alleged illegal drugs in Lian, Batangas.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the drugs were discovered by a concerned citizen during a coastal cleanup at Sitio Ligtasin, Barangay Luyuhan on August 9 but hesitated to report it due to possible repercussions.
The contraband, suspected to be shabu, weighed approximately one kilogram and was placed inside a gray plastic bag with Chinese characters. The bag had been opened.
The PCG Substation Lian conducted a seaborne patrol with MDRRMO Lian and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion Region IV-A 403rd Maneuver Company for additional drugs, while the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Batangas implemented proper disposal of the substance.
“CGSS Batangas has issued directives to all sub-stations under its area of responsibility to intensify seaborne and shore patrol operations to prevent similar occurrences,” the statement read. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
