7 hurt as butane canister explodes in Pampanga police station

Seven people were injured after a butane canister exploded inside the San Simon Municipal Police Station in Pampanga, according to a Saksi report on Wednesday.

Three police officers were among the injured, the Philippine National Police said.

Investigators said the victims were preparing food when the portable butane gas stove they were using suddenly blew up.

Authorities suspected the butane gas was leaking before something ignited it.

The victims sustained first-degree burns. They were brought to a nearby hospital and are now recovering. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
