Explosion stirs Basilan town

An explosion stirred residents of Tipo-Tipo, Basilan evening on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

No one was hurt in the incident but the explosion damaged the fence of the municipal hall.

The military and personnel of the Bomb Disposal Team responded quickly to the area.

Authorities have yet to identify the people behind the blast, as of this writing, but raised the possibility that the explosion might have something to do with the upcoming Tipun-Tipunan Festival.

Government forces assured the public that security measures will be intensified during the celebration.

The local government also urged residents to stay vigilant and to report suspicious individuals and items to authorities. — GMA Regional TV
