Missing fisherman rescued in Quezon
A fisherman was rescued in Quezon Province after he was reported missing.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the 35-year-old fisherman went missing during a fishing trip off the coast of Balesin, Quezon, on Sunday.
The Coast Guard Station (CGS) Southern Quezon, the police, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Perez, Quezon, then conducted search operations.
He was successfully rescued with the assistance of fellow fishermen.
The PCG said the fisherman was clinging to a buoy after strong waves broke his boat’s outrigger.
It advised the family of the fisherman, who was brought to Jomalig, Quezon, for him to undergo a physical checkup at a hospital.
The PCG also urged shoreline communities to remain vigilant and avoid fishing when there is a tropical cyclone. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
