Marcos distributes aid to farmers, fisherfolk in Ilocos Norte

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday led the distribution of agricultural, fishery, and veterinary interventions to farmers, fisherfolk and livestock raisers in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.

Marcos gave agri-fishery machinery, seeds, fertilizers, fuel subsidies, and solar-powered irrigation systems worth P157.95 million to farmers' association beneficiaries from Districts 1 and 2 of the province.

The assistance was provided by the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 1 and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.

''Marami pong mga bagong teknolohiya ang nakikita natin dito. Ang mga tulong na ito ay bahagi lamang ng mas malaking hangarin natin na para sa lahat na isang pagkilala sa sipag at sakripisyo na binubuhos ninyo sa Ilocos at para sa buong bansa,'' Marcos said in his speech.

(We have new technologies here. This assistance is part of a bigger objective, and that is to recognize the hard work and sacrifices you have made for Ilocos and the entire nation.)

Marcos also attended the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) payout in Batac.

This aims to help Filipinos who are in need, including the farmers and fisherfolk affected by the El Niño phenomenon in the province. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
