15-year-old girl dies after alleged gang rape in Cebu — CIDG
A 15-year-old girl in Oslob, Cebu passed away days after she was allegedly raped by 13 men, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday.
In a statement, the CIDG said the victim identified as “Analyn” and her mother reported the incident to the police on December 12.
“According to the victim, on the evening of December 9, 2024, while seated at the Cuartel Heritage Park in Barangay Poblacion, Oslob during the Oslob Grand Fiesta Celebration, she was approached by an unidentified group of men who offered her a drink, leading to her intoxication,” the CIDG said.
“They allegedly took advantage of her inebriated state, brought her to a secluded area, and thirteen men sexually assaulted her…Tragically, Analyn passed away a few days after the incident,” it added.
No cause of death was mentioned in the statement.
Four of the 13 suspects identified as “Luis,” “Cyrill," “Tristan,” and “Kent” were arrested in Barangay Casay in Dalaguete town on Sunday evening.
According to the CIDG, the suspects visited Oslob and joined the celebration of the town fiesta on December 9.
The four arrested suspects are now in custody of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 7. They will face charges for statutory rape and homicide, according to the CIDG.
“By arresting these accused, we can bring justice to their families. We will further intensify our program to provide citizens with a safe and orderly community. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any information that may assist the ongoing investigation,” CIDG chief Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said.
According to Fe Marie Dumaboc’s 24 Oras report, the four suspects were arrested in Dalaguete, Cebu, where they live.
The mother’s victim said there were initially three suspects. They eventually called the others as they allegedly have another victim.
The suspects will face statutory rape charges.
“We have yet to check kung may (if the suspects have) criminal records but we will work on that, checking din kung may involvement sila sa ibang criminal incidents or records,” said Police Captain Jan Ace Elcid Layug, spokesperson of the Cebu Provincial Police Office.
