Reveler killed in Bacolod 'Panaad' feast

MANILA, Philippines - Tragedy struck the "Panaad" festival in Bacolod City Thursday night after an unidentified gunman shot dead a 25-year-old reveler there. Online news site Visayan Daily Star (www.visayandailystar.com) reported Saturday that police still face a blank wall on who shot dead Gerald Arroyo in Mansilingan village in Bacolod City. Arroyo, of Purok Kabukiran in Taculing village in Bacolod City, was declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. Initial investigation showed Arroyo and a companion were on their way home when the assailant shot him. Members of the Negros Occidental and Bacolod police offices and the Regional Mobile Group had been deployed to secure the eight-day festivities at the Panaad.
