Sto. Niño devotees attend Pilgrim's Mass at Ati-Atihan 2025

Grateful and reverent Sto. Niño devotees joined the Pilgrim's Mass on Sunday morning during the Ati-Atihan 2025 Festival in Kalibo, Aklan.

According to John Sala’s report on 24 Oras Weekend, locals and tourists came together to honor the child Jesus at the Eucharistic celebration held at the St. John the Baptist Cathedral, amidst the vibrant and festive atmosphere.

Devotees solemnly prayed outside the church, carrying images of the Sto. Niño, while the Mass emphasized the importance of faith in the Holy Child as a symbol of steadfastness and love.

“Pinagdasal namin na gumaling na ang mga nagkakasakit sa amin. Panata namin na maka-join dito taon-taon,” said devotee Nimfa Acuyo.

(We prayed for the recovery of the sick among us. We had pledged to join this celebration yearly.)

Anthony Arsenio dressed his five-year-old grandson as the Sto. Niño, continuing a family tradition observed over the years.

After the Mass, the 2025 Sad-Sad Ati-Atihan Contest began, with contingents showcasing performances and grand costumes.

Performer Nelly Rebenito expressed gratitude for her blessings through her participation in the festival.

Later in the afternoon, over 50 images of the Sto. Niño were paraded during a 3 p.m. procession. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/DVM, GMA Integrated News
