P1M worth of equipment, 3 suspects nabbed for illegal fishing in Marinduque

More than P1 million worth of illegal fishing equipment were seized from three individuals during a joint maritime operation in Gasan, Marinduque on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Philippine Coast Guard, the operation was conducted to monitor illegal fishing activities in Gasan. The activity was coordinated by Gasan town's Coast Guard Sub-Station and Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA).

They were able to intercept fishing banca Princess Aquarius that was used by the suspects for illegal fishing.

Authorities were able to arrest the three suspects and seize the fishing banca worth P500,000.

They also confiscated a diesel engine valued at P200,000, fishing nets worth P300,000 and over 10 kilograms of fish worth P1,000.
