'Tribes' celebrate Iloilo culture at Dinagyang 2025

Nine "tribes" mesmerized residents and tourists with their world-class performances during the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City.

One of the festival’s highlights, the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan 2025, showcased the vibrant culture of Iloilo City, as reported by John Sala on 24 Oras Weekend.

The event celebrated the rich heritage of Iloilo, featuring performances that highlighted each town's unique delicacies, products, and specialties.

The highly anticipated Dinagyang Tribe Competition is scheduled for Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Adding a unique dimension to this year’s festival, several persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Iloilo City District Jail Male Dormitory are among the participants.

This initiative, a yearly tradition at the jail, is in collaboration with the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc., offering the PDLs an opportunity to share their efforts and talents with the community.

For the PDL participants, dancing serves as a profound expression of devotion to Señor Santo Niño—a spiritual pledge and a testament that no prison bars can confine their faith. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
