21 fishermen arrested off La Union - report

MANILA, Philippines - At least 21 fishermen from Dagupan City in Pangasinan province were arrested off Caba town in La Union for illegal fishing, Bombo Radyo reported Monday night. The report said, 21 fishermen, led by boat captain Oldarico Adiasos, were arrested off the coast of Santiago Norte in Caba, La Union. Caba police chief Sr. Insp. Bernabe Oribello said in an interview with Bombo Radyo that the fishermen were on board the fishing vessel "Princess Charisse." He said they yielded 25 containers of fish caught by using fine-mesh fishnets or "buli-buli," which is considered an environmental threat as it catches even small fish and damages corals. - GMANews.TV
