Nanny facing complaint after allegedly scalding baby in Bulacan
A nanny is facing a complaint after the baby she was taking care of suffered burns from scalding hot water while the child was being given a bath.
According to Jamie Santos' report on "Saksi," the baby sustained first-degree to second-degree burns on her back and thighs in the incident that happened on February 1 in Bulacan. She was treated at the hospital.
“Siyempre masakit sa akin wala ako magawa, ni hindi ko naman nasaklolohan yung anak ko,” the mother said.
(Of course, it hurt s since I wasn’t able to do anything. I wasn’t able to rescue my baby.)
CCTV footage showed the nanny bathed the baby at 9:39 a.m.
After a while, a loud cry was heard from the baby. It took minutes before the nanny took the baby out of the bathroom.
In the living room, the nanny dried the baby with a towel and attempted to soothe her
After making excuses, the mother was informed of the incident at 3 p.m. when the nanny told her that she poured hot water on the baby.
“Halos mamatay yung anak ko. Paano kung wala kami that time? Parehas kaming hindi kaya umuwi ng ganung oras. Pano na lang po yung anak ko? Anim na oras nagtiis yung anak ko bago siya nabigyan ng first aid na una palang dapat sinabi niya sa akin kung talagang nagmamalasakit siya sa anak ko,” the mother said.
(My baby almost got killed. What would happen if we had not been there during that time? We usually cannot go home during that time. What would have happened to my child as he waited for six hours before he was given first aid, which the nanny should have told me first thing if she had concern for my baby.)
The nanny fled after the incident. She was hired through an agency and has been with the family for eight months. –Celine Serquina/NB, GMA Integrated News
