PCG nabs 4 for illegal fishing in Romblon

The Philippine Coast Guard arrested four men for illegal fishing in Romblon, it said Thursday.

According to a statement, Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Cajidiocan conducted an operation in Barangay Cambalo, Cajidiocan, Romblon after receiving reports of illegal fishing activity.

The suspects were caught using an unauthorized breathing apparatus.

Authorities also seized a fishing boat, three pairs of flippers, three spears, three pairs of goggles, three pairs of flashlights, 30 kilograms of assorted fish and approximately 600 meters of rubber hose.

The suspects have been turned over to the Cajidiocan police and may face charges for violating the municipality’s Comprehensive Fishery Ordinance. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
