NBI: Suspect in killing of agent’s son nabbed in Bulacan

The suspect in the killing of an agent’s son in November 2024 was recently arrested in Malolos City, Bulacan, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Tuesday.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago presented the suspect, identified as John Michael Serrano Garcia, to the media in a press conference.

Authorities nabbed Garcia Monday through an arrest warrant for murder and attempted murder from the Regional Trial Court Branch 78 in Baguio City.

According to the NBI, Garcia had been moving to different places. Before his arrest, the NBI said authorities conducted technical surveillance on Garcia in Bulacan on February 14.

Agents found Garcia hiding in his aunt’s apartment.

Garcia is accused of fatally shooting the son of an NBI agent in Barangay Ferdinand in Baguio City on November 24, 2024.

Citing witnesses, the NBI said Garcia was actually targeting a different person, an ex-boyfriend of his girlfriend after the two supposedly had a previous sexual relationship.

Garcia is currently detained at the NBI’s Pampanga District Office pending the issuance of a commitment order from the court. He is facing charges of murder and attempted murder. — Joviland Rita/RF, GMA Integrated News
