Antipolo residents tie burglar to post after trying to escape

A burglar was tied to a post by the residents of Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City after he repeatedly tried to escape on Thursday early morning.

According to EJ Gomez’s exclusive report in “24 Oras”, the barangay officials said the suspect stole various items from two houses which includes cellphones, clothes, and underwear.

One of the victims said that their family was awakened by the noise of their neighbors mobbing the burglar.

(I found my child’s underwear and shorts on his body and they fell to the ground.)

The other victim said they heard a noise and saw the suspect armed with a knife.

(I heard a rustling sound that made me feel suspicious. We later found him holding a knife. When I went outside, someone was looking after our house when  he saw someone enter it. That’s when the burglar was arrested.)

Barangay officals said that the suspect was notorious for stealing in their community.

(‘Bai’ is actually a notorious thief and he is also involved in drugs. He was repeatedly reported to us and many have already complained about him. He has stolen from no less than 10 houses.)

But the suspect said he only robbed six houses.

He also admitted he stole from houses in other barangays in Antipolo City and in Quezon City.

The suspect will be turned over to the Antipolo Component City Police Station, the report said. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
