Quezon road rehab to start in June
SAN FERNANDO CITY, Philippines - The rehabilitation of Quezon Road in southeastern Pampanga will start next month, according to Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. "President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has allotted P193 million for the project under the 2008 National Budget, and the amount will be charged to my allotment and that of fourth district Representative Anna York Bondoc," Gonzales said. The nine-kilometer long road, which traverses the third and fourth districts of the province, has been the subject of complaints by motorists from Pampanga and other nearby provinces passing through on their way to Manila and vice versa via North Luzon Expressway (Nlex). Gonzales said the Quezon Road rehabilitation is among the priority projects of President Arroyo in Pampanga to spur economic development in the southeastern parts, particularly the towns of Mexico, Sta. Ana, Arayat, Candaba, San Luis and San Simon through a seamless connection with Nlex and other major road systems. "Quezon Road is really a vital road in Pampanga and its rehabilitation is due, especially with fast modern expressways linking the province to critical destinations like Subic, Clark and Metro Manila," he said. - Sun.Star Pampanga
